The breed was admitted to the stud book of the French Kennel Club on October 18, 1934. The International Canine Federation recognized the Bichon Frise as “a French-Belgian breed having the right to registration in the Book of origins from all countries”. On March 5, 1933, the official standard of the breed was adopted by the Societe Central Canine of France. The breed was known under the two names that are: “Teneriffe” and “Bichon.” It was decided by the president of the International Federation, Madame Nizet de Leemans, to call the breed “Bichon Frise.” Learn more about puppy training prior to buying puppies.
